From all of Wakati Foundation’s staff we wanted to wish you a Happy New Year! This year has been a very eventful one and we are very excited to dive in 2022 to continue all these wonderful projects. We have many projects to proud for this year and we are happy to have shared them with all of you!
Our year 2021 started very strong with the construction of Opportunity Bank in Nakivale. During the difficult time of COVID, Wakati Foundation realized an exploit; create employment for over 30 people. The building of the new Opportunity Branch has been a titanic work as the team overviewed every step of the process from the architectural plan to the flick of a light switch.
In a continuity of 2020, we were also very happy to work with UGAFODE in reaching out to almost 20 000 people in Nakivale about financial literacy. Through Change Mindset and financial literacy training, Wakati Foundation participates in fostering and creating development in the settlement, and we are proud of having reached out to so many over the course of the year.
In an effort to create opportunities for the youth and to give exposure to artists that are all too often overlooked, Wakati Foundation created the online talent competition intitled ‘Our Talent Our Opportunity’. Through the organization of a filmed competition Wakati Foundation is aiming at shining light on the youth and artists in order for them to have exposure and be able to find their own economic opportunities in the future. The videos of all the artists can be found on our Youtube page.Learn More
All in all, the year 2021 has been a year full of excitement for Wakati Foundation. Through unity, hardwork and hope we have overcame the greatest challenges of this year and succeeded in creating and maintaining wonderful programs that have a true impact in the community we live in because of their designs responding to problematic raised by refugees themselves. We are hopeful and excited for 2022 to start and bring new adventures to the team.
To create opportunities for refugees to develop trade, financial resource base and entrepreneurship skills to be self-reliance and healthy.
